The weekly Sabbath (Hebrew: Shabbat) is the only one of the Ten Commandments that most Christians entirely ignore, yet it’s the only one that God specifically said to remember.
Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Exodus 20:8
The Sabbath is the seventh day of every week, what we commonly call Saturday in English. It begins at sunset Friday and ends at sunset Saturday.
At Wild Branch Community, we believe that God made a weekly date with his people, not because he needs it, but because we do. The Sabbath was made for man, as Yeshua said, but we don’t get to change God’s commandments regarding how and when to keep it. Marriage was also made for man, but no Biblical Christian believes that we are free to throw out God’s rules for male-female relationships. This is an appointment with our Creator and King, and it’s important for our well-being as individuals and a community, as well as for our relationship with him, that we keep it as he instructed.
We don’t observe the Sabbath day in order to earn our salvation, but because we love and believe God.
